This puts the two Russias in a perfect position to become a new oil supplier right when the Middle East goes to shit. And at this point, the two superregional unifiers are probably fairly organized and industrialized, meaning that they should have the infrastructure to export oil and can be treated as functional nation-states. Russia has lots of oil, especially in Siberia. The Oil Crisis usually hits in late 1969, right as Russia reaches the superregional phase. This post reminded me of something I've thought of before.
